The Slide-A-Shelf 5 year warranty says it all. Here's the list of materials used:

SHELF BASE: The material we use is ½ inch thick two-sided white Panolam brand shelving.  It is an easy-to-clean, industrial grade thermo-fused panel. Common name is melamine…not cold-rolled, but laminated with high pressure and high heat for a durable storage surface.  Panolam easily cleans with a damp rag for years and years of service. Say goodbye to that ‘ol sticky shelf paper.  Our shelf base is guaranteed under normal use to not bend or warp in any direction.

STRUCTURAL FRONT/BACK: Your slide-outs will be made from 7 ply Baltic birch with a durable UV-cured polyurethane coating. (This is the same material we use for the tapered sides.)  This is a very rigid, beautiful broad-grained wood, used in quality cabinet construction through the U.S.  Dimensionally we transition the material from an overall 2 inch height in the front member to almost 4 inches high in the back member.

COSMETIC FRONT:  Our customers tell us this is an important feature of our shelf, and typically is not available standard from other sources.  You can choose from several species of solid wood for the 2 inch fronts.  We currently have available solid oak, hardwood maple and paint-grade poplar.  With Slide-A-Shelf you now have the opportunity to easily stain or paint these fronts to match your cabinets and/or décor.  We also offer a Baltic birch option that is already finished with a natural/clear polyurethane at no additional charge, so with this option no additional finishing is required.

RAILS: The most important component!  Our made-to-fit slide-out shelves feature heavy-gauge steel rail/glide sets made by a 100+ year old leading U.S. manufacturer. This version has clear zinc coated telescoping rails that easily extend with a pull of your finger.  These rails are rated for 100 lbs. which includes the weight of the slide-out shelf.

Make no mistake...your made-to-fit slide-out shelves are manufactured from the finest quality materials available.  We stress that they are constructed as a durable daily-use shelf – NOT a thin bottomed oversized drawer!
